the day my mum went to the gym

yesterday was my mum's first visit to the gym-california fitness.
see, e vain pot in my mum decided that she need to lose sum weight off.
i do admire her courage alot.. becoz my impression of gyms consist of:

1. big BULKY guys/gays
2. big electronic /complicated machines
3. ang mo speaking working class ladies

haha, if u noe my mum.. u'll know how she speaks.
her sentences are often a combination of 2 or more languages, chinese, english and dialect.
i.e. i want to qu(go in chinese) toilet to pang sai.

sumting like tt.. but she is a lovable n hilarious petite lady. trust me u'll love her when u meet her. my mum's neva been thru much education, i think barely pri 6. sumthing like tt..she was in pri 2 when the government decided that she was malnutritioned and needed extra care so they took her to sum centre where all the underweight kids were taken care of. then, my grand parents were also too poor to support all the 7 children they have, so they sent my mum there. the only one outta the 7 thoe. it was there where she spent 4yrs of her childhood, only to go home on weekends i think.. anywayz, the point is that she wasnt given any opportunity to sch.. n at p6 she was put back to psle where she only could spell A.P.P.L.E.

anywayz, thats too long a story to tell.
haha. over the years, my mum picked up sum bits of english.. i think mainly when she brought me and my siblings to sunday school where she helped out as a sunday sch asst. Today, my mum can spell simple things like girl, boy, dear, happy birthday etc..

ok, back to the gym..
haha. my mum was there at the gym with my sis, coz my sis wanted to try out the hip hop classes while my mum had a go at the BIG MACHINES. as it was her first day there, the gym was supposed to attach an instructor to her but when i called earlier in the day to book the slot for her, e "instructor" said he wasnt free to take her.. But when she got there, many instructors were fighting to help her out, coz i think they get sum kinda commission thing..oh well, my mum got quite confused with the names of the instructors, so she managed to remember 2 of them- Sum guy call kayson and the other faisli..

okie, actually e funny thing is how my mum remembered their names. my sis related this tale to me earlier on...

my sis: ma, do u remember the names of ur instructors?
mummy: of coz! so she pronounced two names that sounded sumwhat like k-son and faisli
my sis: wa, so smart ar?
mummy (grinning ear to ear, took out the piece of paper she wrote their names and showed my sis) : on the paper were these words written neatly:

SO, this is how my mum remembered kayson : letter K with the chinese character "sheng"

as for Faisli,
see e tick, it means "pass" to my mum.. and lee- since she could spell simple surnames.
put together, u get "pass-lee", doesnt it sound like Faisli?

hahahaa.
i think my mum is hilarious.
n cute.
=)
